Meet James "Dirt" Dorner, a one of a kind artist, that creates magnificent art pieces from recycled American made motorcycle parts. Dirt, age 47, hails from Champaign, Il. By trade, he is a journeyman electrician, but that was apparently not meant to be his true purpose in life. While raising his son, he went through his own personal bike build and found he had spare bike parts. This is when "Dirt Art" was born and he found his passion and purpose in life. He has an amazing God given talent for welding and art, with an imagination that knows no bounds. Every part he touches, from the largest of gas tanks to the smallest of pistons has an untold story just waiting for Jim to uncover. He has an unbelievable talent for making the ordinary seem extraordinary, for taking a dirty, greasy, common metal object and transforming it into a breathtaking piece of unique, custom artwork. He finds the beauty in hidden places that we all look for in life.
In December of 2012 he was a featured artist in Easyriders magazine. In 2014 and 2015 he was a featured artist at the Harley-Davidson MDA Black and Blue Ball Silent Auction and has created Dirt Art live at Harley-Davidson dealerships across the country raising funds for MDA. In the last 11 years he has made and donated countless pieces of art for benefits and has raised over $110,000 for Veteran's organizations , childhood and adult cancer benefits, as well as "no kill" shelters. His philanthropic gifts are as much a part of who he is as the imagination that is responsible for these amazing creations.
